National Social Work Month Profile: Jada Hunter, Executive Director
of Community Reinvestment, Center of Hope
March is National Social Work Month – a time to recognize the dedication, resilience and impact of social workers across the country and their diverse roles across child welfare.
For Jada Hunter, Executive Director of Community Reinvestment at FSS partner the Center of Hope at Emmett Reed, social work is more than a passion – it’s a calling. Growing up with a mother who was a social worker and a father who was a pastor, Jada always knew she wanted to help people. While she initially considered becoming a child psychologist or teacher, she found her purpose in social work, blending her passion for advocacy and education.
This year’s Social Work Month theme, “Compassion + Action,” perfectly aligns with Jada’s leadership at the Center of Hope. Since its inception, the Center has supported nearly 1,000 families in the 32209 community. Jada emphasizes the importance of uplifting and validating the voices of caregivers and residents, ensuring they are seen and heard.
“I strive to promote fairness, justice and advocacy for those who may not have the platform to speak for themselves,” Jada says. “Real change happens when communities lead the conversation.”
Under her guidance, the Center of Hope’s team focuses on meeting families where they are while connecting them to needed services, creating family circles and building new support networks. By holding the community’s voice in high regard, Jada has witnessed remarkable transformations – parents once facing crises are now stepping up as community leaders.
Jada hopes people understand that social work is about creating equitable environments where everyone can thrive. “I’m committed to advancing social and equity efforts, ensuring marginalized communities have the opportunity to reach their full potential,” she affirms.
Through her unwavering dedication, Jada Hunter continues to lead with compassion – making lasting change, one family at a time.
